Relatively early in the course of my teaching career I realised that the book that would meet my teaching needs had yet to be written.
Most student books on the market were, I found, either confusing, with several seemingly unrelated activities in one and the same unit,
or uninspiring, i.e. allowing very little scope for imaginative implementation, and they were, without exception, inadequate for self-study purposes.
For this reason I began to develop my own teaching materials, and was soon rewarded for my efforts with positive feedback
and above-average academic achievements on the part of my students.
A short time later a number of freelance teachers of English also began to express an interest in teaching my course,
and this confirmed me in my intention to develop the present work -
Teach & Study English as a Foreign Language.
Teach & Study is so called because it combines the Teacher's Book with the Student's Book, in one volume.
